Welcome to the former home of Pablo Escobar, the most notorious drug lord in history (who during his reign as druglord/kingpin was so dominant that he even kidnapped the Vice President!) Ten years ago, this city had the highest per capita murder rate in the entire world. Today however Medellin is making a turn around, with Pablo dead and his stifling control long gone, 40% of the local government’s budget going to education and the people pushing for serious improvments Medellin has become a vibrant and friendly city.
If you’re looking for an incredibly diverse city with amazing nightlife, supermodels at every turn and a zest for real life, this is the city for you!

Why does 90% of every article pubilshed about Medellin mention Pablo Escobar in the first paragraph?
There are so many better things to discover here. He is dead. He is gone. He is the past. RIP but Jesus let him die.
His cartel is disbanded. Nobody knows where the money is. Even his own son has denounced him.

I almost want to vomit everytime I read a new visitors comments on their visit to Medellin. Good, bad and ugly.
I have lived here for 4 years and let me assure you, Pablo Escobar is dead. So, let him rest in peace if he can. If not, let him rot in hell but for gods sake start your Medellin visit with something other than a reference to Pablo Escobar!
