Ishihara AKA Mr. Sake

My time in Japan is quickly winding down so tonight I decided to get a good meal and then some clubbing.
First spot was a small “local style” Japanese BBQ house where they grill your food in front of you.  I ordered a few beers and plate after plate of fresh grilled chicken and vegetables.  As [...]

Rocking Osaka on Wednesday Night

So my friend, Shelly, who I met in Tokyo emailed me to ask me if I wanted to go out tonight. I had a great time with her in Tokyo so I gladly agreed and we met up at the “Glyco Man” sign in Osaka. Shelly has a boyfriend back in the states and [...]

Eating The Real Kobe Beef in Kobe, Japan

Kobe is a killer city and Kobe beef actually lives up to the hype and then some.  I enjoyed course after course of delicious beef tonight.
Sadly, I don’t remember the name of the restaurant but their phone number is on the first picture if you make it to Kobe.  They had more medals on the [...]

Leaving Oki, landing in Kobe!

I’m three minutes from landing.  Looking out my emergency exit row window seat I see a view of a sexy city with oceanfront highrises and shimmering lights.  After five days of “funk” (two in Fukuoka and three in Okinawa) I’m happy to be feeling in better spirits and downright excited to be here. When I get the [...]

Okinawa

Okinawa is a cool place but I’m not in great spirits and the weather is much colder than I had expected here. I was hoping to escape the cold of mainland Japan and get some beach time but sadly, that’s not going to happen.
I really needed some excitement when I landed so first night I [...]

At the FUK Airport Eating Horse Meat!

Fukuoka was a fairly lame city.  Maybe I was in the wrong frame of mind or I saw the wrong parts of town or maybe I’m just sick of wearing a jacket 24 hours a day, I don’t know.  Anyways, after two days of boring, I’m leaving town.
Its always best to roll with the punches when traveling [...]

Hiroshima Today

Hiroshima is a beautiful city with over one million residents, modern highrise buildings and tree lined rivers flowing through the heart of downtown.  The people are friendly and the air is clean.
Hiroshima is known for okonomiyaki, which is a dish cooked on a hot-plate, usually right in front you. It is cooked with various ingredients, which [...]

Hiroshima – Ground Zero of 1945 A-Bomb

On August 6th 1945, Hiroshima was decimated by a single atomic bomb dropped by the Enola Gay, Superfortress bomber. That single bomb unleashed a nuclear chain reaction of radioactive fury that completely destroyed the city within twelve kilometers. 70,000 people died instantly and approximately 130,000 later from cancer & leukemia due to the radiation emitted [...]

Last Day in Kyoto – Kinkaku-ji & Gojo Area

Well my last day in Kyoto was more sights but it rained the entire day; not one second of reprieve!  I just realized that Kyoto boasts seventeen (17!) “UNESCO World Heritage Site” designations!  I certainly didn’t see all the sights in this awesome city but I loved what I did see nevertheless.  Enjoy the photos below.  [...]

Foxy Rocks World Nightclub in Kyoto, Japan

Ya, it’s on.
As in, last week I gave up partying Friday night so I could wake up really early and see Sakura (the cherry blossoms) on Saturday morning.  Well tonight I’m going to make up for lost fun.
(both photos are from world-kyoto.com)
According to the five or so random younger Japanese people I stopped on the street, the best nightclub [...]
